Meaning-Making through Language, Art and Other Media
Curated by Ricarda Vidal and Madeleine Campbell
Opening night: 18 April 2023 at 6 pm
The opening is preceded by Ricarda Vidal and Madeleine Campbell’s workshop that starts at 4 pm
Venue: Dom Literatury w Łodzi
Language: English
The works in this exhibition explore translation through visual, sound and video art. They are the result of a collaboration between artists, writers, translators and academics who took part in the international Experiential Translation Network. Over two years the Network investigated the potential of image and sound in the process of translation and the role of translation in art making and art experience. Many of the works in the show were inspired by public workshops which were conducted online and in person in the many different places the artists live and work in.
Together we trained our eyes to hear and our ears to see in order to translate from languages we don’t speak. Join us in this exhibition to experience what we discovered.
The works in the show include video art, animation, installation, print-making, painting and photography. The opening and workshop are free to attend.
